Kids that just decide hey, I would love to be rich and famous and I like TV and movies…I’ll be an actor! So then without any background, any practice and not even the experience of being a childhood performer around the house and friends, they give it a show. Then for some bizarre reason, a producer is incompetent enough to hire them.Look the story had potential, the budget was decent and the sets were fairly convincing, these kids just had no place working in front of the camera. It’s a movie you watch and think to yourself OK, they must have made this movie themselves or been friends of the film maker or just rich kids that know the right people. This movie shows you that the best way to throw your money in the garbage is to hire a bunch of posers that don’t know what the hell they’re doing.You might as well pull a random homeless person off the street, hand them the tools and supplies necessary then say “ok, build me a house!”.Avoid this at all costs unless you like hating people that can’t act and should have never been given the opportunity to prove it. Also, if you’re going to cast a film with pretty faces and big tits, they need to do something to earn their money which in this case should have been to get naked a half dozen times or more.Watching people this incompetent makes me hate Hollywood all the more because these faces are bound to show up on screen again and absolutely have no place there. It’s no different than the slacker at work that’s never on time, always finds people to pick up their slack, kises anal and gets the big promotion only to fall flat on their face yet get a dozen more chances to do it again.Ugh…..

Flannel Pajamas

Stuart (Justin Kirk) and Nicole (Julianne Nicholson) meet on a blind date that oddly also briefly includes his brother Jordan (Jamie Harrold), her best friend Tess (Chelsea Altman) and their therapist. It gets stranger from there in Jeff Lipsky’s offbeat second feature, “Flannel Pajamas,” which follows the couple’s life from giddy setup to marital strife. They fall for each other immediately, despite the fact that they have nothing in common. Justin is a massive-city Jewish boy with a flashy Broadway job; Nicole is a Catholic girl from a huge Montana family who has trouble keeping a gig as a sales rep. After spending the night in her awful bathroom-less apartment, Stuart asks Nicole to move in with him and let him pay off her student loans. Nicole’s response is wary, though she quickly adds, “I’ll take the money, though.”Anyone can see the match is not exactly made in heaven, nor does it appear to be made in New York, but soon we find ourselves in the airless bubble of Stuart and Nicole’s tiny world. He is glib and controlling, she is mopey and apparently unstable; and while you get the feeling that the movie is an attempt to make sense of a difficult, real-life relationship, there’s not much here that feels recognizable. Kirk and Nicholson, usually very likable, struggle with what they’re given, but more directorial distance was needed to extract a story from this experience.
